Providing Answers, Support and Hope in the Northeast
Alisha Scott - Paint Night Success
My name is Alisha Scott. I am a mom of a 23 year old daughter and 17 year old son. I'm from Bloomfield, CT. I live with lupus and I am an employee of the Lupus Foundation of America.
I was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 and it has completely changed my life. I'm fortunate to still be able to work, but at times I have needed accommodations in order to manage my work load. I take multiple medications daily in an effort to feel semi-normal and even with that, there's not a day that goes by that I don't experience a symptom of my condition. Although at times it can be extremely difficult to deal with, I'm grateful for a wonderful support system, that continuously cares for and encourages me.
My last event that I held was called The Lupus Luau, which was sponsored by Post Paint and The Russell. 30 people participated and $450 was raised. There were also several local vendors that donated raffle prizes.
Overall, the event was a huge success! It was an evening of positivity. As an employee, I was able to connect with a few Lupus Warriors and have been able to reach out to them since to provide information and engage regarding The Walk to End Lupus Now virtual event on 10.16.21. If there was anything that I could have done differently, I would have held it on a Friday or Saturday so more people could have attended.
