The Lupus America® Household Goods Donation Program

The Lupus America® Household Goods Donation Program is a charitable fundraising program to benefit the Lupus Foundation of America's research, education and support services. 

Lupus America program is currently only available if you live in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. 

You can donate your gently used items to help people with lupus. All donations are tax-deductible. Donated items are sold to for-profit wholesale buyers. The proceeds from the sale of donated items are used to support vital programs for individuals with lupus and their families in communities like yours.

  • Shoes -- all types and sizes
  • All bedding items
  • Draperies and curtains
  • Housewares and glassware
  • Jewelry and cosmetics
  • Toys and games
  • Knick knacks
  • Small appliances
  • Tools of all kinds
  • Please, no furniture or large items

Pick-Up Information

Please place your donations out by 7:30 a.m. on the scheduled day, rain or shine. Identify your donation clearly by marking "LF" on all bags and boxes to be picked up.

If the time specified is inconvenient, please call between 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday, or on Saturday between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to arrange another pick-up date.

Tax Deductions

The driver will leave a donation receipt at the time of pick-up. It is your responsibility to determine the value of the donated items. If you did not receive a receipt, contact the number above in your area.

You can determine the value of your donated items by reviewing information published on the IRS website, Determining the Value of Donated Property, Publication 561. For all non-cash gifts of $500 or more, you must file IRS Form 8283. You should consult your tax advisor if you have any questions.

The Lupus Foundation of America is a charitable organization with tax-exempt status granted under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Federal ID# is 43-1131436. Your donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Drop Off & Shop in Maryland

The Wheaton Unique store in Wheaton, Maryland takes in-person drop off donations and operates a full store.

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 9am-7pm. Attendee hours may vary due to weather. Outside of regular business hours, donated goods can be left in the provided drop off bins.
