The Lancet has published the positive full results ofUCB and Biogen’s Phase III PHOENYCS GO study of dapirolizumab pegol (DZP), an investigational, novel Fc-free CD40L inhibitor, for people with moderate-to-severe systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The study met its primary endpoint showing a clinically relevant improvement of disease activity with standard of care.
In the PHOENYCS GO study, treatment with DZP plus standard of care led to a statistically significant reduction in disease activity at Week 48 compared with placebo plus standard of care. Participants receiving DZP with standard treatment did better than those on placebo across several measures, including disease activity, severe flare control, fatigue, and steroid reduction. The results add to the evidence that DZP could become a new treatment option for people with SLE.
UCB and Biogen are moving forward with the Phase 3 PHOENYCS FLY clinical trial, which is now enrolling patients and will help support future regulatory approval.
