LFA Mission Movers

What is a LFA Mission Mover?

LFA Mission Movers are passionate mission-driven volunteers who help accelerate awareness, connection,and the success of the Lupus Foundation of America’s mission. Mission Movers are people living with lupus, family members, friends, and advocates whose lived experience brings credibility, urgency, and heart to our work. 

This role is designed as an alternative to traditional committees. It is focused on action, relationships and impact rather than meetings.

What Mission Movers Do

Mission Movers work alongside staff before, during, and after programs like Lupus & You Empowerment Conferences and events like Walk to End Lupus Now, and other mission initiatives to help expand reach and strengthen execution in communities across the country. 

Mission Movers may support one or more of the following:

Awareness & Recruitment
  • Help recruit participants, teams, and volunteers
  • Host or support Lunch & Learn opportunities to raise awareness of lupus and LFA programs at local business
  • Introduce new audiences to the lupus community and LFA resources

Sponsorship & Relationship Building
  • Open doors to potential corporate sponsors, partners, or community supporters
  • Facilitate introductions between LFA staff and prospective partners
  • Support sponsor and partner stewardship

Planning, Execution & On-Site Leadership
  • Participate in targeted planning conversations tied to events and programs
  • Support tasks that strengthen readiness and day of mission moments
  • Serve as a visible, trusted leader on-site to support participant experience

Storytelling & Community Connection
  • Help elevate lived experience by sharing your and other lupus stories in meaningful ways
  • Encourage connection, engagement, and belonging among the lupus warriors and families in your community
  • Identify individuals interested in deeper involvement or leadership
What are the commitment options?
Option One: Mission Movers
  • Approximately 15 hours per year
  • Typically supports one primary program or event
  • Includes recruitment and on-site execution
Option Two: Mission Mover Leaders
  • Approximately 25 hours per year
  • Supports two or more programs or events
  • Hosts or supports a Lunch & Learn
  • Opens doors for sponsorships or partnerships
  • Provides leadership support to other mission members
  • Assists and provides day of leadership support during on-site event and program execution 

Commitment is flexible, event-aligned, and does not require standing meetings or fundraising minimums.

  • Volunteers who want to contribute meaningfully without committee obligations

LFA Mission Movers help ensure LFA programs and events are welcoming, well-executed, and mission-centered, while expanding awareness of lupus and bringing new people, partners, and opportunities into their community and to the LFA’s mission.
