Men’s Health Month 2026: Lupus Resources and Support for Men

June is Men’s Health Month, a time to shine light on the health challenges that affect men with lupus and encourage open, honest conversations about care and well-being. For the lupus community, this month carries particular meaning.
While lupus primarily affects women, men can and do develop lupus. In fact, 1 in 10 people living with lupus is a man, and men are often diagnosed later because lupus is so frequently overlooked in male patients. Men with lupus can also experience more severe disease complications, making early awareness and access to care critical.
At the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA), we are committed to making sure every person living with lupus has the resources, support, and community they need. If you are a man living with lupus, here is where to start.
Find Community and Support
Finding people who truly understand your experience can be one of the most powerful parts of living with lupus. Whether that looks like a virtual support group, a candid conversation, or simply knowing others are walking the same path, connection matters. The National Lupus Man Cave support group is a welcoming virtual space where men living with lupus can openly share their experiences, build community, and find strength in knowing they are not alone.
The Lupus & You: The Male Journey webinar recording is another great resource for men living with lupus. Medical experts and male lupus warriors come together to challenge the misconception that lupus only affects women, sharing powerful personal stories and real insights on kidney health, diagnosis, daily life, and more. You can also explore the Q&A recap for answers to some of the most commonly asked questions, from symptoms and treatment to fertility and finding support.
