Study Finds mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine and One Booster Dose May Not Fully Protect against Breakthrough Case of Omicron Variant in People with Autoimmune Disease

As the COVID-19 virus continues to change, new COVID-19 research shows that having only one mRNA COVID-19 booster shot may not fully protect people with an autoimmune disease from infection with the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV2. Talk to your healthcare provider about COVID-19 vaccination and/or booster shots and about whether you should continue to take other precautions, such as wearing a mask.

Study Finds COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Beneficial for People with Lupus

New COVID19 Research: A COVID-19 booster shot significantly lessens risk of developing breakthrough infection in people with lupus and immediately increases antibody levels, even if on immunosuppressant drugs.

Florida Covid-19 Resources
Where To Get Free N95 Masks

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. government will distribute these masks to local pharmacies and community health centers. There is a limit of three masks per person.

Florida Vaccine Locator

Eligible people can receive COVID-19 vaccines as authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Florida has many sites that are providing COVID-19 vaccines.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy for COVID-19

Monoclonal Antibody Treatments (MAB) for COVID-19 can prevent severe illness, hospitalization and death among high-risk individuals. This treatment is available widely in Florida.

Food, Bill Paying and Reduced Cost Programs

Find food assistance, help paying bills, and other free or reduced cost programs, including new programs for the COVID-19 pandemic. Find them here.

Medicare to Allow Home Infusions for Benlysta, Other Medications

For the first time, people with lupus on Medicare will be able to receive infusions of Benlysta at home and will not be required to go to a physician’s office or another facility to get their infusions. Read more.

Medicare to cover telehealth costs during coronavirus pandemic

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Public Health Emergency, doctors and other health care providers can use telehealth services to treat COVID-19 for Medicare patients.
