Why We Walk: LaToya Dolby-Holmes

“My main goal for walking is to inspire others who not only have lupus, but for those who don’t, to get involved with the foundation and become an advocate.” – Dr. LaToya Dolby-Holmes, Augusta Walk Chair and member of the Chapter Board of Directors

Meet LaToya who proudly walks for herself as a lupus survivor. LaToya’s journey with lupus has not been easy, she has been living with lupus for over half of her adult life. In the beginning LaToya fell into depression and felt despairing because her knowledge was limited, all she knew was there was no cure, and she was in constant pain. After getting over the shock of her diagnosis, LaToya started to educate and care for herself so she could manage my pain and live with lupus. LaToya has experienced every symptom associated with lupus, hair loss, fatigue, joint and body pain, memory loss, skin rashes, weight gain, headaches and sensitivity to light. Lupus has affected LaToya’s skin, lungs and kidneys. The Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia Chapter has supported me and many others with our fight. They have taught me how to be advocate!

LaToya will be walking in Augusta on May 21, 2022.
