Josselyn L. - Diagnosed at age 18
When I was 18 years old, my entire body started to hurt for a week straight. I had a fever, loss of appetite, and I couldn't move. My mom took me to a doctor, and after running a few tests, I was diagnosed with lupus on July 18, 2018. The most devastating news was that it was a chronic disease without a cure, and I would have to live with it. Since my diagnosis, I have been visiting the hospital and every once in a while, I experience lung problems and heart problems. I'm a strong young woman who has overcome every challenge this disease has presented to me. Lupus is not my enemy anymore, but my ally. I hope that you never give up hope and never fall apart if you are struggling with this part of your life.
