Urge Congress to Finalize Funding for Critical Lupus Programs
The House of Representatives and Senate have both proposed to increase funding for lupus programs that raise awareness of lupus, advance research, and improve care. Therefore, we urge you to contact your members of Congress today and tell them to support their constituents living with lupus by passing FY 2026 appropriations bills that include:
- $20 million for the lupus program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- $3 million for the lupus clinical trial program at the Office of Minority Health (OMH)
- $48.7 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- $370 million for the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program at the Department of Defense (DoD) and include lupus as a disease eligible for funding

Right now, these programs are currently operating under a continuing resolution through January 30, 2026, that provides funding for only a limited time and effectively results in flat-funding - leaving many programs without the crucial resources needed to advance progress for people affected by lupus. Without a full-year budget funding the government for Fiscal Year 2026, all lupus programs may be cut or eliminated, putting continued advancements in research and care at risk.
