Johann Gudjonsson MD, PhD

Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan

Dr. Gudjonsson is the Arthur C. Curtis Professor of Skin Molecular Immunology and an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan. Dr. Gudjonsson has published over 150 papers, many in top tier journals such as Nature Genetics, Nature Immunology, Science Translational Medicine, and Immunity. He is funded by two R01s and he is the principal investigator of a NIH P30 grant awarded to the University of Michigan. Dr. Gudjonsson has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Young Investigator Award from the American Academy of Dermatology, the Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Award, the Pfizer ASPIRE award in Rheumatology and Dermatology, and he received the Rising Star Lecture of the Society for Investigative Dermatology, an award that is given once every 5 years, in 2018. He is a scholar of the Taubman Medical Research Institute and was a co-PI of the first Taubman Institute Innovation Program Award.  He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI). Dr. Gudjonsson’s research is focused on autoimmune diseases in particular the molecular basis for sex-bias seen in autoimmune diseases such as SLE.
