2020 Letter Writing Campaign
![]() | ![]() |
Dear Friends,
While so many of you are stuck at home, you can advocate! Never have your stories and your words been more important than right now. We encourage you to share your story in a one-page letter to Senators Todd Young and Mike Braun as well as to your local congressional representative. You can find out who your representative is by clicking here and entering your address.
Your personal experiences as someone who has lupus or as a caregiver are more valuable than you know. Please share them in a letter with the elected officials who are representing you and we will deliver to them on your behalf. You can share the same letter with all three of your congressional representatives, just be sure to change the names.
Along with your personal story, these are the funding requests that we are making this year, and these should also be included in each letter. It’s important for them to know that we are a united force in our fight to find a cure for lupus.
- $10 million for the National Lupus Patient Registry at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- $10 million for the Lupus Research Program at the Department of Defense
- $2 million for the National Lupus Training, Outreach, and Clinical Trial Program at the Office of Minority Health
- $44.7 billion for the National Institutes of Health
We don’t have much time so please write your letters SOON and email them to Lisa@lupusindiana.org or mail them to LFA, Indiana Chapter, 9302 N. Meridian Street, Suite 203, Indianapolis, IN 46260. We need to have your letters by Thur, April 30, to be included in our mailing.
We hope to send stacks of letters – but we can only do it with your help. If you have any questions, please email me at Lisa@lupusindiana.org.
