Hello, my name is Shayla and I am a lupus warrior. 

I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus at the age of 30 back in March of 2022. I’ve been silent for three years thinking should I join the movement to spread awareness while sharing my story. I felt lost and confused when I first received my results from my rheumatologist. He told me to go online and do some research so I can educate myself on what lupus really is. 

So far, I have come a long way besides having good and bad days. I understand and accept the fact that there is no cure and I will live with this disease for the rest of my life. I choose to keep fighting because I know that it could be worse than what it is but there is a God I give all praise to morning, afternoon and evening. I know that there is bigger and greater in the near next days, weeks, months and years to come. 

I want to thank my family and relatives for praying with me and for me. I also want to thank all the doctors and nurses that’s treating my lupus. Lupus Foundation of America, I want to thank you for building a platform for all warriors that can come share their stories to help others across the globe.
