Being Hispanic/Latino means enjoying shared and varied experiences, traditions and beliefs. But it also means that there may be an increased risk for lupus and other diseases. This is because Hispanics/Latinos (as well as other ethnic groups like African Americans, Native Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders) have a greater risk of developing lupus, which may be related to genes they have in common.

If you are Hispanic/Latino take time to educate yourself, your family and your friends about lupus. The more you know, the better you will be able to diagnose, manage and cope with the disease. This September 16 through October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. In honor of this month, the  Lupus Foundation of America is highlighting a wide variety of resources, including:
