Nephrotic Syndrome is a group of symptoms that, together, indicate that your kidneys are not working as well as they should. Lupus Nephritis (LN) is the term used when lupus causes inflammation in your kidneys, making them unable to properly remove waste from your blood or control the amount of fluids in your body. Researchers reviewed data collected from two clinical trials, Lupus Nephritis Assessment of Rituximab (LUNAR) and A Study to Evaluate Ocrelizumab in Patients With Nephritis due to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (BELONG), and found that people with LN that also have nephrotic syndrome have a lower likelihood of renal response. More study is needed to better understand the overall prognosis of people with LN and nephrotic syndrome.
