When I was 13, I was diagnosed with lupus and Antiphoshpolipid Antibody Syndrome. The first time I went to the emergency department at the hospital, I was misdiagnosed with severe pneumonia. I was given medication and sent home. Later in that week, I was back in the emergency department and told that my pneumonia had gotten worse. I was admitted into the hospital, and was there 10 days before they found a pulmonary embolism in my chest. This is when I was tested and diagnosed. Since then, I have had more than 5 other blood clot related hospitalizations and at least 2 lupus flare related hospitalizations.
