I had a severe stroke in Feb 2014. My doctors were trying to figure out what caused it. I was diagnosed with SLE. They concluded that my stroke was caused by a combination of Lupus & shingles virus. These caused the narrowing of my right MCA artery leaving me with 97% closure there. Little arteries formed to compensate for the decreased blood & oxygen flow to my brain. After my stroke my lupus went into remission until this year where it has attacked my kidneys. My rheumatologist and Nephrologist have confirmed that I have lupus nephritis. Before I couldn’t really differentiate the aches & pains I felt as I just suffered the stroke and couldn’t really deal with the reality of lupus, but now that I somewhat recovered from the stroke and am actually aware of living with lupus and am suffering an actual flare. I am very aware of all issues that lupus causes.
