A new study investigated the potential link between systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and a specific bacteria in the gut. The researchers found that microorganisms or bacteria that live in the digestive tract may contribute to the pathogenesis (origination) of lupus nephritis. Further research into this novel finding is needed in the future.
