LFA Professional Online Instrument Training Program (POINT Program™)

Inconsistencies in how researchers are trained on and use disease assessment tools to evaluate the effect of a potential therapy have negatively influenced the success of clinical trials. This limits the availability of new medicines for people living with lupus.

To address these issues, the Lupus Foundation of America developed the LFA Professional Online Instrument Training Program (LFA POINT Program™), which has rapidly become the gold-standard, web-based training site for lupus disease assessment tools.

The LFA POINT Program is the only web-based program worldwide that provides standardized training and continually monitors the correct use of each tool.

LFA POINT Program helps improve the quality of studies on new therapies.

Today, more than 3,000 lupus researchers in 50 countries use the LFA POINT Program. Early results show that researchers use these measures more consistently and correctly following the LFA POINT Program training. In 2012, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) also began using the LFA POINT Program, significantly bolstering our goal to put new medicines in the hands of people with lupus faster.
