If I have lupus, can I get allergy shots?
There is little evidence, but there is still a theoretical risk that allergy shots could cause a lupus flare. Before proceeding with allergy shots, patients should discuss their options with both their rheumatologist and allergist. However, the use of antihistamines, decongestants and steroids for seasonal allergies generally pose no problems for people with lupus. If you have lupus, speak with your doctors about options for allergy relief and ask if allergy shots are right for you.
