Los Angeles Walk To End Lupus Now, September 28th

Join the movement and walk with us! The West Coast's largest lupus event attracts more than 3,000 participants to L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles.

The LA Walk ... So much fun!
Regional Director's Update, April 2019

I spent the first few days of March in Washington DC with more than 300 lupus advocates, including two dozen Californians.  As part of the Advocacy Summit, our California delegation met with staffers from our two Senators' offices, as well as numerous Congresspeople and their staff.

Together, our advocates delivered a powerful message – support more funding for lupus research and programs that can improve the lives of those impacted by the disease.  These programs are critical to advancing lupus research. They are designed to increase the understanding of lupus, its causes and how it can be treated; speed time to diagnosis and ensure people with lupus are receiving the care they need as soon as possible.

For me, the trip offered an intimate look at how lupus impacts someone's life.  After a long day on Monday, a couple of our warriors had to rest on Tuesday to make their flights home.  Several others had to make accommodations for the cold and the walking involved in a day on Capitol Hill.

This is the lesson I took from my trip: Lupus is relentless and so are our warriors.  Whatever the obstacle, warriors respond by saying, "What can I do to keep going?"  Sometimes that means some help from loved ones, sometimes that means resting.  Whatever it takes, we will be relentless until we end lupus.

P.S. I am running the Half-Marathon in San Diego’s Rock N’ Roll Marathon on Sunday, June 2nd  to raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of America.  Join me in the 5k or the Half-Marathon:
