Volunteer Awarded Community Hero Recognition

We are honored to join Columbia River PUD, a community-owned utility company, in celebrating the accomplishments of Taryn Miller who recently was named a Community Hero.  The PUD Community Heroes program recognizes those people who go above and beyond to make our community a better place.  The purpose of this program is to recognize and thank those who give their time and talents to make our community a wonderful place to live.

The Pacific Northwest Regional Office of the Lupus Foundation of America nominated Taryn for the Community Hero award to recognize her continued efforts to increase lupus awareness throughout the region and as a high-level volunteer and committee member for the Walk To End Lupus Now.  She uses her platform in the Miss Oregon Outstanding Teen competition to put a spotlight on the diseases and successfully petitioned Oregon Governor Kate Brown to create a statewide day of awareness for lupus. On behalf of the millions of people touched by lupus, thank you Taryn!
