Saying "Adios Lupus" in the Northeast
The Lupus Foundation of America and Minor League Baseball are saying ¡Adiós Lupus!™ through a series of games this summer. The LFA is the first official charity partner of Minor League Baseball’s Copa de la Diversión™ (“Copa”) Hispanic fan initiative. This fun outreach program aims to increase lupus awareness and reduce the time to diagnosis among the Latiin X community and all MiLB fans.
Community Ambassadors in the northeast are giving their time to support the program. On June 21, advocates engaged fans in Brooklyn as the Cyclones wore their Brooklyn Jefes gear in a Copa match up against the Staten Island Yankees. Karen Miller, Veronica Cruz and Heather Pantin shared the signs and symptoms of lupus and encouraged fans to support our advocacy efforts.
Walk to End Lupus Now NYC Co-Founder and Brooklynite, Lynnore Thames, was recognized by the Brooklyn Cyclones as the Winning Women of the game! Lynnore was recognized as a leader in her profession and for her outstanding community service. As a special treat, Lynnore had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch and to call part of the game from the broadcast booth. As an avid baseball fan, this was a personal thrill for Lynnore as well as an outstanding recognition opportunity. We are grateful to the Brooklyn Cyclones for their support.
Missed the fun? Join us at the Brooklyn Cyclones on July 12 or the Hartford Yard Goats on July 15 and August 23.
