The Art of Increasing Awareness

The Lupus Foundation of America is a grassroots organization.  It is through many dedicated individuals working in their communities to increase awareness and raise funds that we can work towards our vision of a life free of lupus.

Eddison Romeo is one of these generous individuals.  He is using his talent to give back.  Eddison will host an art show, Colored Immersion, in Beacon, NY on Saturday, January 14 from 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  The show will premiere at the Catalyst Gallery on Beacon's signature Second Saturday, a city-wide celebration of the arts in this vibrant enclave.  The opening reception features amazing artwork, great food, and lively music by DJ Dee Chills.

The show will also highlight lupus awareness with an education booth and raise money for the Lupus Foundation with an artwork raffle.  Tickets may be purchased at the reception and during the run of the exhibit.  The drawing will take place on February 6, 2017.

“I was raised in the South Bronx with my brother and mom. She always taught us, that no matter how bad you have it, there is always someone in a worse predicament than you are. I am happy to use my talents and my art to give back to those with lupus,” said Mr. Romeo.  “On the outside, people with lupus may look well, but they are suffering.  It is really hard for people to understand their pain and struggle.  Sometimes to make it through the day is hard enough in itself.  I’ve crossed paths with so many people living with lupus. I knew I had to support their fight.  There is power in unity so let's take a stand to fight this debilitating disease.”
