Saying “Om” and Supporting a Cure

Two fantastic events helped promote good health and increase lupus awareness this fall.

The Young Leadership Committee hosted the inaugural "Lupus Warriors Stretch for a Cure" on September 27 at the Yoga Collective NYC.  The fitness event included two dynamic sessions led by Nicole.  Guests enjoyed the challenging workout and connecting with other young professionals who support the lupus community.  Committee members Yve Edmond and Wendy Fernandez took the lead to plan this unique event with support form K-DEER, Curve Appeal Social and Siggi's Yogurt.

Talia Madden, Community Ambassador, and LFA Volunteer hosted "Pints & Poses" on September 30 at The Local Ale House in Island Park.  This fun Saturday morning event began with a relaxing yoga workout followed by social time with a refreshing drink and great food.  Talia recruited about 30 participants for this exciting yoga event.

The events raised funds for the Lupus Foundation of America and introduced the new supporters to the organization.  Many people who live with lupus practice yoga to reduce stress and exercise.  The National Resource Center on Lupus features an article outlining the recommended practices for those living with lupus.  Read more.

We are grateful to the Young Leadership Committee and Talia Madden for their dedication and generosity. If you would like to host a yoga event at your local studio, contact Monica Smith, Director of Development, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 917-608-4785.
