Countdown to the WTELN!
The Lupus Foundation of America Northeast Region is gearing up for the Walk to End Lupus Now taking place in October in Norwalk and Newburgh. The volunteer planning committees have been hard at work soliciting sponsorships, hosting fundraising events, recruiting teams, and organizing volunteers to an amazing Walk day experience.
In Connecticut, the Norwalk committee includes 14 energized volunteers from across the state. Their efforts have been contributed to the growth of the walk as we relaunch this exciting community fundraiser.
The Norwalk committee members kicked off the WTELNCT Norwalk with a fantastic rally on Sept. 12 at Serendipity Labs in Stamford. This high-spirited evening included networking, delicious treats, and merriment as supporters get ready for WTELNCT Norwalk on October 15. Sue Gloor, Regional Director, and Antonella Leone-Giamei, Fundraising & Development Manager, shared fundraising ideas, recruitment tips, and informative resources.
The Norwalk committee has successfully secured new corporate sponsors including Castleton Commodities International, Yale New Haven Health, Gen Re, K2 Mobility, News 12 CT, Serendipity Magazine, and Connecticut Parent Magazine. These generous corporate partners are committed to raising awareness of lupus in CT. Join the fun on October 15 at Calf Pasture Beach and register for WTELNCT Norwalk at walktoendlupusnow.org/ctnorwalk.
The WTELN Hudson Valley is quickly approaching on October 7 at beautiful Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh. The planning committee is in crunch mode as they make final preparations for the walk in less than 4 weeks! The committee, led by Chairperson Iris Petrillo, has secured almost $6,000 in sponsorship and they are halfway to reaching their $20,000 Walk goal. These incredible advocates also have some fabulous pre-walk events planned including restaurant promotions and a paint and sip party.
