I’m ShiVanda Peebles and I'm a lupus warrior!!! On a personal note, I was diagnosed at 21. I am a 24-year survivor of lupus!!! I've had a lot of struggles with the disease. I have had severe weight loss, multiple organ failures, permanent bone damage resulting in 2 heart failures, 2 hip replacements, kidney damage, chemotherapy and multiple miscarriages resulting in not being able to have children.

I'm currently dealing with end stage kidney failure and unfortunately, I’m currently receiving at home dialysis and I’ve been placed in the Kidney Transplant Program at Emory. It's a daily struggle and I have challenges, but I continue to fight as hard as I can so lupus won't win.

I’m so thankful for my family and friends. I have a great support system!!! My husband, my parents, my sisters, closest friends, and my faith in God have been an intricate part of my survival. It takes a team!!! My team is Shi’s Butterflies!!!

Every step, and every donation helps the efforts to solve the cruel mystery of lupus.Thank you for joining us in the fight to end lupus. That’s why I walk every year in the Walk End Lupus Now!!!
