Thirty-One Faces of Hope: Meet Amos Smith and His Bottle of Faith

The lupus community includes people living with lupus, friends, family and supporters across Georgia. For Lupus Awareness Month, we would like to highlight some of our lupus heroes and champions.

Amos Smith and His Bottle of Faith

Alt text

We had the honor of meeting a true lupus champion this morning. Amos Smith recently held his 2nd Annual Steel Kin Lupus Awareness Bike Ride in Cornelia, Georgia. Amos' commitment to raising awareness and funds in North Georgia is remarkable. In just his second year, he doubled the size of his ride!

The Bottle of Faith

Amos took a bottle of water and removed the label. He prayed over the water and called a “bottle of faith.” Amos handed the bottle to a young woman living with lupus and told her that it was hers after it was auctioned it off, along with the proceeds from the auction.

He hoped to get $50 from the auction. His friends and supporters had another number in mind! By the time the “bottle of faith” was auctioned off, Amos had raised $1,000.

We are truly inspired by Amos, his friends and supporters for the good work they are doing in NE Georgia. We can’t wait until next year! Save the date for May 10, 2020!!
