Meet Timishea "CoaCoa" Price, 2021 Macon Walk Chair

 
Q: Do you go by Timishea or do you prefer your nickname CoaCoa?
A: Timishea is my given name, but many people know me as CoaCoa.
 
Q: Do you have lupus? What is your connection to lupus?
A: I have been living with SLE lupus for the last 14 years.
 
Q: When did you first get involved with Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia Chapter? 
A: I first started participating in 2015 Walk to End Lupus Now as an individual walker. In 2017, I decided to enter into the t-shirt contest to get a little more involved and I won second place at the Atlanta Walk.
 
Q: When did you become Walk Chair?   
A: This is my second year as Walk Chair for the walk in Macon
.
Q: Where do you live?
A: I live in Reynolds Georgia, about 45 minutes from Macon. I was born in Miami, Florida
 

Q: Please tell us a little more about yourself
A: I am a retired pharmacist. I was recently elected to as a Councilwoman for the City of Reynolds. I’ll take office in January 2022.
 
Q: What makes you relatable?  
A: I am relatable because I understand what people are going through with their lupus, I can relate to so many individuals who suffer with the daily living with lupus.
 
Q: What was your first memory or first impression of the Lupus Foundation and how did you get involved? 
A: My first memory was wow there is a foundation for this disease that I have, so I looked on google and found out who to contact and how to get involve more to help educate and bring awareness to people who may not know that there is support.
 
Q: What do you find most challenging about being the Macon Walk Chair?  
A: Getting the community involved and raising money for research.
 
Q: What do you wish other people knew about the Macon Walk?
A: I wish people understood that we are doing this to raise awareness for lupus as well as educate people about this cruel disease.
 
Q: What is your goal and what hope to accomplish this year?  
A: My goal is to let the community know that we are here to raise awareness for the cause and also get more doctors who specializes in lupus to the middle Georgia area.
 
Q: Do you advocate for lupus in other ways beyond being the Macon’s Walk Chair?
A: I try and educate people that don’t know what lupus is.  I even tell them famous people who has lupus such as Toni Braxton, who has SLE Lupus, Nick Cannon, who has lupus nephritis, and Seal, who has discoid lupus.
 
Q: What motivates you to stay involved? 
A: Finding a cure for people like myself who battle with different symptoms of lupus daily.
 
Q: In your opinion, what is the most important work that Lupus Foundation of America, Georgia Chapter does?  
A: Advocating and educating people about this cruel disease.
 
Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining the Macon Walk?
A: I would say join us to make a difference nothing is too big or too small when you are doing it for this worthy cause.
