Why I Walk: Cathe Fuentes

I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus one year after the birth of my son in 1996. I went back to work after 8 weeks maternity leave & knew something was different. I struggled to get out of bed, couldn't go up stairs, open jars etc.Because my younger sister was diagnosed at the age of 15, I was automatically tested. It has been a continued struggle living with Lupus, especially when some people think I'm exaggerating because I look healthy. Some days are fine..other days u can't even walk. I was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus in 2009 after losing all the hair on the crown of my head. Additional meds have given me back a full head of hair. The loss of my hair was worse to me at the time than having Lupus. My team & I will walk in hopes of someday find a cure!
