Lupus awareness among the general public is shockingly low. In the Northeast, our goal is to continue raising awareness about the impact of lupus and the work of the Lupus Foundation of America. May is Lupus Awareness month and an excellent opportunity to host a lupus event at your organization.
[email protected] is a free on-site education program which can be tailored to meet the needs of your organization or wellness campaign. Participants learn about the signs and symptoms of lupus, the challenges their friends, family members, and colleagues can be facing as well as the efforts LFA is taking – all in a fun and interactive format. The presentations and testimonials by trained Community Ambassadors are designed to promote discussion and understanding of this cruel disease.
Since the beginning of the year, scheduled on-site events at local employers including the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Pfizer, AIG, Colgate, the NYPD Policewomen’s Endowment Association (PEA.), and CWA Local 1180.
“[email protected] has been incredibly effective in expanding our reach. Most of us spend our lives at work and time off in the evenings is short and precious. Reaching people where they work about the signs and symptoms of lupus increases knowledge and promotes compassion for co-works who may be impacted by this cruel disease,” shared Sue Gloor, Regional Director.
If you are interested in scheduling a presentation at your company, professional or service organization, please contact Sue Gloor at [email protected] or by phone at 917-608-5393.
