The Board of Directors at the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter, is pleased to announce Cindy Messerle as their new Chief Executive Officer. With twenty years of leadership experience brought to the Chapter, fifteen in the nonprofit sector, Messerle will be responsible for cultivating a strong vision of the Chapter to continue representing people living with lupus in the tri-state area.

The Chapter’s name reflects their service area of Delaware, Southern New Jersey, and nine counties in Central and Southeastern Pennsylvania, as its heightened visibility in the past decade has helped thousands of people living with lupus in the region. By providing programs and services such as self-help courses and support groups, the Chapter remains a hub of information for any local inquires about lupus.

Prior to joining the Chapter, Messerle served as the Director of the SCH Fund at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. In her historied career, she has held the roles of Director of Development, Marketing and Development Manager, Walk Director, and Executive Director. Messerle started her career in the for-profit sector in sales and sales management in the consumer products industry. After co-founding a nonprofit that educates women on the prevention of heart disease, Messerle found her new passion in the nonprofit world and received her Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University.

“We are pleased to continue building on the successes of the Chapter with Cindy’s leadership,” says Board Chair Tonyelle Cook-Artis. “She has the energy, knowledge, and critical skills needed to help us continue to grow.”

Messerle will join the Chapter effective October 23rd.
