2022 National Lupus Advocacy Summit
For the first time since 2019, lupus advocates will come together in Washington, DC for the nation's largest lupus advocacy event! From June 26–28, Summit attendees will learn from experts in the field about the latest in lupus research, connect with hundreds of their fellow lupus advocates, and turn Capitol Hill purple by advocating for their members of Congress to join our fight against this terrible disease.
Each year, the National Lupus Advocacy Summit brings together the entire lupus community in pursuit of our shared goal: a world without lupus. At the 2022 Summit, you'll help us build on our past successes and push for more.
Hear firsthand from the brightest minds researching and treating this disease and receive training on how to advocate for yourself and others with lupus throughout the entire year.
There's no other event in the world that brings together as many people affected by lupus as the Summit. Be surrounded by those who understand your challenges and can help you manage them.
Meet with your members of Congress to tell your lupus story and urge them to join our fight against this terrible disease by supporting policies to improve the lives of all people affected by lupus.
The National Lupus Advocacy Summit is the keystone of our comprehensive advocacy program that has generated more than $680 million in federal funding for lupus research in the last five years alone.
There is nothing more important to us at the Lupus Foundation of America than the safety of our community. It is our hope that by June we will be able to safely host lupus advocates in Washington, DC for the Summit. We will continue to monitor the situation and share more details as they become available. Summit programming will be offered online for those unable to travel.
We can't turn Capitol Hill purple without you! We hope you'll join us in Washington this June for a truly impactful event – to receive registration details for the 2022 Summit as soon as they are announced, sign up as an advocate.Become an Advocate

Welcome to Washington! Get checked in, grab your materials for the rest of the Summit and say hello to Lupus Foundation of America staff and your fellow advocates at The Mayflower Hotel. Rest up before the Summit begins bright and early the next morning!
Monday, June 27
Get ready to learn! We'll get started early Monday morning at The Mayflower Hotel with sessions detailing the latest breakthroughs in lupus research and drug development and what they will mean for you. After lunch, you'll hear about the legislative landscape and the priority policies we will be taking to Capitol Hill on Tuesday. Lupus Foundation of America staff will fully prepare you with everything you'll need for successful meetings with your members of Congress - from navigating congressional office buildings to telling your story in the most impactful way.
Tuesday, June 28
It all builds to this! Put on your purple and head to Capitol Hill, where we will have arranged meetings for you with your members of Congress. You'll meet with the offices of your U.S. Representative and both of your U.S. Senators to tell them how lupus has changed your life and what they can do to join our fight against this devastating disease. After your meetings, join us back at The Mayflower Hotel to debrief your day with Lupus Foundation of America staff and your fellow advocates.
For lupus advocates under 21 and their families, the 2022 Summit will once again feature a youth track focusing on topics specific to growing up with lupus. Youth advocates will have a dedicated space available to them throughout the Summit to connect with their peers in a relaxed setting.
The Foundation will again provide scholarships for advocates to attend the Summit. Scholarships are extremely limited, and as much as we wish we could, we are not able to provide scholarships for everyone who applies. Details on how to apply for a scholarship will be available when Summit registration opens in March.
