Recently Funded Peer Reviewed Studies and Other Research Initiatives
In recent years, there has been significant progress in basic science and therapeutic approaches to lupus. These advances have started the transition to a new era in lupus. However, substantial work remains to fully understand the epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis and clinical impact of lupus.
The LFA Medical-Scientific Advisory Council annually establishes research priorities and develops specific initiatives for funding. The LFA issues a Request for Applications (RFA) and seeks proposals from lupus investigators which are evaluated through a peer-review process using guidelines established by the National Institutes of Health.
