Lupus Now: State of the Art Approaches from the Experts

Program Overview

Scientific thought leaders discuss the management and treatment of lupus with a focus on systemic complications. Specific topics include the latest research and clinical trials, categorization of cutaneous lupus, photo and laser therapy of lupus scarring, lupus nephritis, and pregnancy in lupus.  This program was recorded on October 14, 2006.

This program is presently being updated.

Target Audience

There are two tracks for the program -- physicians and other health professionals, and a seperate track for individuals with lupus and their families. The health professioanls program is designed for specialists in nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, immunology, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and family practice. The patient education program is appropriate for a lay audience.   

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, health professional should be able to:

  • Evaluate new clinical strategies emerging from advances in treatment.
  • Optimize safety and efficacy of current treatment options.
  • Identify recent research findings and their immediate practical application to the clinic.
  • Assess and appropriately explain the risks associated with pregnancy for lupus patients

Accreditation

This activity was planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the American Academy of CME, Inc. and the Lupus Foundation of America.  However, the time has expired to receive continuing medical education credits.

The programs were supported by an unrestricted education grant from the former ASPREVA Pharmaceutical Company, now Vifor Pharma, part of the Galencia Group.
