Combined Federal Campaigns
Federal employees, postal workers, and military personnel and retirees can contribute to the Lupus Foundation of America through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The LFA is listed in the Community Health Charities federation of National Voluntary Health Agencies (NVHA).
When you complete your CFC pledge form, designate the Lupus Foundation of America, CFC Agency #10566 to receive your gift. **
Please remember to check the option to notify the LFA of your contribution so we can properly acknowledge you gift and verify that your donation has been received and is working to help people with lupus.
The Lupus Foundation of America is the foremost national nonprofit health organization dedicated to finding the causes of and cure for lupus, and providing support, services and hope to all people affected by lupus through a nationwide network of chapters, branches and support groups operating in 32 states and the District of Columbia.
How CFC Contributions Help People with Lupus
The LFA has a dual mission: advance the science and medicine of lupus to find the causes of and, ultimately, a cure for lupus, while simultaneously providing care, support and hope to people living with lupus, their families and the health professionals who care for them.
Funding Lupus Research
Through the LFA’s National Research Program, Bringing Down the Barriers, your CFC contribution supports the work of numerous lupus investigators searching for answers to complex questions about lupus. This past year, the LFA funded studies on cardiovascular, skin, kidney, and neuropsychiatric manifestations of lupus; the genetics of pediatric, adolescent, and male lupus; mid-to-late stage translational research; and adult stem cell transplantation.
Educating People about Lupus
The LFA is raising awareness of lupus symptoms and health effects with special emphasis on reaching individuals at greatest risk for developing the disease. Consequently, the number of people contacting LFA health educators for information about lupus has tripled over the past 15 months, and the number of calls to the LFA national office or an affiliate of our national network now exceeds 200,000 annually. We could not meet this demand without the generous support we receive through CFC payroll contributions.
Supporting Individuals and Families
While the LFA continues leading efforts to find better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for lupus, thousands of new cases of lupus develop every year. And these individuals and their families rely on LFA to help them cope with the physical, emotional and economic impact of lupus. With the help of the CFC campaign, this past year the LFA developed a new telephone helpline program, improved training for support group leaders, expanded our network of health educators to include several languages, added new features to our website, and launched the Lupus Research Registry to connect individuals with lupus to clinical trials in their area enrolling participants.
Advocating on Behalf of Everyone Affected by Lupus
For the past 33 years, the LFA has conducted a wide range of programs that help individuals with lupus, members of their families, and the health professionals who care for them. The LFA has been effective in fulfilling its mission. For every dollar donated to the LFA over the past five years, the LFA has secured $7 in federal support for lupus research, education programs, and patient services.
