For Family Members, Friends and Caregivers
Because of the physical, emotional and economic toll of lupus, the impact of the disease often extends beyond the person with lupus. It can have an effect on the entire family. A survey of more than 1,000 people with lupus confirmed that family, friends and other caregivers play an important role.
- Most lupus patients reported that they are coping well with lupus (78%), and that other family members are understanding and supportive (72%).
- People with lupus named other family members (84%) and friends (72%) as their primary support network.
