Advocacy & Legislation
The LFA Government Relations team is responsible for federal, state, and international legislation and issues that affect people with lupus. We work with Members of Congress at the federal level, as well as the state level to raise awareness and advocate for research funding.
There is no cure for lupus and no new drugs have been developed to treat lupus in almost 50 years! We will continue working with Congress and federal and state agencies to improve the lives of the more than 1.5 million Americans affected by lupus.
By becoming an advocate for lupus, you can:
- Advocate for constructive public policies that support lupus patients and their families.
- Broaden and strengthen the outreach of LFA's grassroots advocacy network to secure urgently needed increases in funding for research and education programs.
- Educate policymakers about the critical needs of lupus patients and their families.
- Collaborate with state and federal policymakers to establish and expand programs for people with lupus.
Legislative Priorities
Important government relations issues that affect people with lupus include:
- The Lupus Research, Education, Awareness, Communication, and Healthcare (REACH) Act
- Fluorescent Lights
- Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act Appropriations
Your donation can give hope to those afflicted with lupus by supporting the programs and services with your monetary donation.
