About Us
The Greater Florida Chapter is the largest Florida chapter under the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., serving 47 counties. The chapter serves a potential 90,000 lupus patients in Florida. This is based on a 1985 study that estimated 1 in every 185 Americans were affected by lupus. This area stretches across central and northeastern Florida as shown in our service map.
We are a non-profit, non-sectarian organization and a National Health Agency for the Combined Federal Campaign. We are a proud member of Community Health Charities of Florida. Except for two paid staff members, the chapter is operated by dedicated volunteers; many are coping with lupus themselves. Details on the services we offer can be found on our Resources page. Be sure to check our Upcoming Events page for chapter activities and our Support Group Locations in our service area.
We are working very hard to educate people about lupus, but we need your help. Please join us in the fight for a cure for this chronic disease? Someone in your neighborhood, where you live, will be thankful you did! You will be glad to know that 90% of your tax-deductible contribution will be going directly to research and local program services, and not to administrative costs. As a member, you will receive our newsletter as well as the "Lupus Now" national magazine which is published quarterly.
