2014 Lupus Awareness Month Review
In a recent meeting held in Washington, DC, the Lupus Foundation of America and our chapter networks shared some of the great efforts made by all of you during Lupus Awareness Month. The 2014 observance provided a great opportunity to raise the profile of lupus through various activities, including media placements, government proclamations, celebrity involvement, Put on Purple Day, illuminating buildings and public structures in purple light, and the Foundation's Walk to End Lupus Now™ events. Your actions to raise the profile of lupus by sharing infographics and facts reached 4.2 million people on Facebook alone! In addition, lupus was covered in the media reaching an audience of nearly 16 million viewers during the month of May. Thanks to your efforts, lupus was discussed by several celebrities including Kathie Lee and Hoda (NBC’s Today Show), Robin Roberts (Good Morning America), Norah O’Donnell (CBS This Morning), the teams from CNN Impact and CNN’s Anderson 360, and many local journalists, all of whom Put On Purple to support the cause. Check out the video montage we shared that shows all of our successes this past Lupus Awareness Month!
