Peer Reviewed Grant Program

In recent years, there has been significant progress in lupus research. However, substantial work remains to be done relevant to basic, clinical, epidemiological, behavioral, and translational aspects of lupus research. The Lupus Foundation of America funds research in several topics, including: adult stem cells, cutaneous lupus, health quality of life, cardiovascular, mid-to-late stage translational researchnephritis, neuropsychiatric lupus and lupus in males and children. Learn more about these specific topics.

The Foundation’s Medical-Scientific Advisory Council annually establishes research priorities and develops specific opportunities that investigators can pursue to apply for research grant funding. The LFA issues annual Request for Applications (RFAs) and seeks proposals from lupus tenure-track investigators. These grant proposals are evaluated through a rigorous peer-review process using guidelines established by the National Institutes of Health.
