"Pathogenicity of Lupus Granulocytes on the Vascular Endothelia: Role in Premature Cardiovascular Disease"
2006 Novel Pilot Projects Program
Dr. Kaplan will study a subset of immune cells patients (called low-density granulocytes) isolated from the blood of lupus. The overall goal of this project is to look at these special white blood cells and their role in damaging blood vessels. These results could ultimately lead to new strategies for the treatment of this disease and its complications.
