2010 - Sasha Bernatsky, MD, PhD

A native of Saskatchewan, Sasha Bernatsky fell in love with rheumatology during her internal medicine training in London Ontario. She completed her rheumatology formation in Winnipeg, where she was mentored by some of the best rheumatologists in Canada. During this time, she began her involvement with the Canadian Network for Improved Outcomes in SLE (CaNIOS), a research network founded by Dr. Paul Fortin. Through that experience she decided to embark on postgraduate training in epidemiology, under the supervision of Dr. Ann Clarke. She earned a PhD in epidemiology from McGill University in 2005, and was appointed as assistant professor to the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Divisions of Rheumatology and Clinical Epidemiology, at McGill University. She is a Scholar of the Canadian Arthritis Network (CAN), and a member of many research networks including CAN, CaNIOS, and the international research network SLICC, Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics.
