Why I Walk: Stephanie Policastro

I am here today for my 3rd walk because I was diagnosed with Lupus 16 years ago and I want to help fight this.
Everyone has a story, mine began when I got sick at the age of 12.  Doctors thought I was making all my symptoms up, but my family knew otherwise.  Three years later after many trips to the University and all different kinds of doctors I was diagnosed with Lupus and in 2012 with Lupus Nephritus which affects your kidneys.
I was blessed with an amazing miracle in 2012, my daughter.  Since then, I have had two miscarriages and the last one was 5 weeks ago at 20 weeks.
So, needless to say my personal journey has been a roller coaster with many highs and lows and loops along the way.  But, through it all I have come to realize that each day is a blessing and when I don’t feel well and think I have it bad, I always remember there is someone out there who has it much worse! So let us fight this fight together!
My name is Stephanie Policastro I am from Cooper City and I walk for Lupus Now for myself and all of those unable to be with us today.
