About Us

The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter is a non-profit, mostly voluntary health organization that functions mainly with volunteers. All monies raised through membership dues, donations and fundraising are utilized for educational programs and funding local lupus research projects each year. The Lupus Foundation is also a National Voluntary Health Agency and a participant in the Combined Federal Campaign.

Our Mission

The Lupus Foundation of America is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of education, research, and advocacy.

Our History

The Greater Ohio Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., was founded in 1977 to fulfill the needs of the lupus community in Cleveland. As the years progressed and the organization changed on a national level, more and more of the state was ushered into the chapter's service area. Today, the chapter serves the entire State of Ohio.

Our Staff

We are a small office, but we pack a punch! The office is filled with dynamic employees who range in experience from a college junior to one of the first members of the national LFA council. Every member of our team is constantly working hard to fulfill the growing needs of the lupus community in Ohio. You can find out a little more about each of us by visiting our staff page.

Our Board

Our board of directors is made up of a diverse group of business professionals who are dedicated to our cause and our chapter. You can learn more about our board members by clicking here. Also, we are always looking for new board members to lend a creative hand and new ideas as we continue to grow. If you are interested in becoming a board member, email info@lupusgreaterohio.org.

Our Brand

In 2013, the Lupus Foundation of America rolled out a new brand. Lupus is more pervasive and more severe than people think, and has an impact that the public doesn’t realize. A recent survey found that a majority of Americans have never heard of lupus or know little or nothing about lupus beyond its name. This research led the LFA to adopt a new brand and a stronger voice. Learn more about our new voice by clicking here.
