Governor Cuomo Signs Lupus Education and Outreach Bill

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo signed S.5216A the Lupus Education and Outreach Bill on November 28.  The Lupus Bill creates a statewide program within the Department of Health to promote lupus awareness and education to the public and health professionals.  This legislation is a major step forward for lupus awareness.  Nearly 1.5 million Americans are living with lupus including approximately 100,000 New York residents.  Read the full bill here

Many groups came together to support the bill organized by Kathleen A. Arntsen and the Lupus and Allied Diseases Association.  Thank you to Ms. Armsten and the Association for their leadership on this important initiative.
