Advocacy & Awareness

The Lupus Foundation of America advocates on behalf of all people with lupus, their families, and the health professionals who care for them. We rally all lupus stakeholders to educate government officials, policymakers, and industry leaders on the urgent need to expand public and private investment in lupus research, education programs, and support services.  No one should face the suffering, uncertainty, and frustration of lupus alone.

Advocacy

The Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter promotes action on the federal, state and international levels on issues that will improve the lives of the 1.5 million Americans and 45,000 North Carolinians living with lupus. We need your help, however, to get more government funding for research, to encourage early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment, and to improve access to quality health care for everyone with lupus.

Take Action

Awareness

The Lupus Foundation of America, NC Chapter offeres awareness opportunities throughout the year to help shed a light not only the cruel and mysterious disease of lupus, but also the needs of those affected by it.  Such activities and programs include outreach events, Lupus Awareness Month, and our Lupus Advocate Bureau.

Lupus Awareness Month

We have many activities taking place nationwide throughout the month of May to raise awareness of lupus, and encourage others to do the same. Such activities include World Lupus Day, Put on Purple Day, and Faith-Based Lupus Awareness Weekend.

Lupus Advocate Bureau

The Lupus Advocate Bureau’s mission is to raise the awareness of lupus by sharing personal stories and accurate information about lupus and the Lupus Foundation of America to targeted audiences in North Carolina, contributing to earlier diagnosis, proper treatment, and improved prognosis for those affected by this disease.
