How to Log-In to LFA Live Chat
Enter a Nickname in the log-in box below and then click on Connect. It may take a few moments for the chat window to load.
When the window opens, click on the "Rooms" tab and select a topic to discuss. Double-click on the room you wish to enter.
Click on the "Settings" button to personalize your session. You can create a profile, and select fonts, colors, and sounds. Click on the "Users" tab to access the profile of other participants. Select a nickname and click on the appropriate icon to enter a private conversation or to flag or ignore their comments.
Participant entry and exit notices have been disabled to prevent cluttering of the chat window. To participate in a conversation, simply type your comment in the space which appears below the main chat window and click "Send."
General Rules and Common Sense Guidelines
- Be courteous and respectful toward all participants.
- Treat everyone as though you were all together in a real room.
- Short comments are easiest to read and comprehend.
- For your safety, never divulge personally identifiable information.
- Stay on topic. If you wish to discuss other subjects, move to a more appropriate chat room.
- Watch your language as people of all ages can view this chat.
- Spamming is rude so please don't do it.
- Allow others the opportunity to participate equally.
- Don't dismiss the concerns others. Be supportive and understanding. Try to be helpful.
About LFA's Live Discussions
To participate in a live discussion, you must use a Java-compliant Web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape 4.x or better. Set your browser to allow pop-up windows.
If you only see a gray block above, you need to download the free Java plug-in, which is available for free here at the Sun Microsystems website.
LFA's live discussions are non-moderated events. Users can chat directly with one another for a period of four days, following the posting of a lupus expert's questions and answers.
