Scientists have been trying to unlock the mysteries surrounding the underlying causes and the unpredictable progression of lupus. Why does lupus present differently in various populations and why does the disease disproportionately affected certain groups? Several studies presented during the 2009 American College of Rheumatology Annual Scientific Meeting attempted to answer these perplexing questions.
