How to Get Involved!

If you have a desire to invest your time and talents to have a positive impact on the lives of people with lupus, we have just the place for you. You can make the difference in the life of someone who is affected by this disease—you can be the person who provides help and hope to someone!

Why volunteer?

Volunteering for the LFA, Iowa Chapter means you have an opportunity to help people while you fulfill your own. When you volunteer, you can:

  • Make a meaningful difference in your community
  • Help people living with lupus
  • Have flexible options and opportunities that fit your schedule
  • Build relationships and networks that last a lifetime
  • Learn and grow personally and professionally
  • Involve your family and friends

Volunteer to Make a Difference!

Whether it’s visiting someone with lupus in the hospital, putting together a team for the Walk To End Lupus Now™, or advocating increasing funding for lupus research, there are many ways you can get involved in the LFA’s mission. Many volunteers with the LFA, Iowa Chapter support the programs listed below. Each program supports one of our top priorities and provides support to someone who needs our help. Want to do a lot of good with a little of your time?

Love to Volunteer, Our Local High Schools Get Involved

We are creating a talented team of volunteers from our local High Schools.  These individuals will be altering photographs to create LFA-Iowa advertisements, social media post, and will be developing social media campaign strategies. All involved students will have an opportunity to volunteer during event planning season to gain additional skills in logistics, planning, and day of activities.

We are offering this opportunity Mondays between March 2 through August 17 from 3-6PM.  Students will be able to register on line, each High School has a separate registration link and these are listed below.  Please spread the word, students will be credited for their creations and can begin to build a portfolio of their work.  We will be offering Seniors a recommendation letter given they have built a relationship with our organization and have 20 hours of volunteer time fulfilled.
