Dr. Susan Manzi Honored by American College of Physicians’ Pennsylvania Chapter

Congratulations to Dr. Susan Manzi who will receive the Clinical Practice Award from the Pennsylvania chapter of the American College of Physicians, in recognition of her exceptional service to people with lupus.

Dr. Manzi, M.D., M.P.H., is Chair of the Department of Medicine and Co-Director of the Lupus Center of Excellence at West Penn Allegheny Health System. She is also a member of the Lupus Foundation of America’s Medical-Scientific Advisory Council and serves on the Foundation’s National Board of Directors. She is recognized internationally as a pioneer in the investigation of cardiovascular disease in people with lupus.

Dr. Manzi and her colleagues at the Lupus Center of Excellence were instrumental in the creation of the technology behind a new blood test, Avise SLE™, to help clinicians diagnose lupus with greater ease and accuracy. Earlier this month, she joined the Lupus Foundation of America in unveiling the Help Us Solve the Cruel Mystery™ National Tour to raise awareness about the disease and to campaign for greater financial commitment from the government on research for lupus.
